Cecilia - Part 2
16 Tons/ Cat Came Back/ Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Mashup
One for the Road

Far and away the revelation of this session was the Janzen Boys, a family trio from Winnipeg consisting of 17-year-old Simon on bass, 13-year-old Mick on mandolin, and their dad, John, on guitar.  Their songs were strong, and their harmonies were out of this world.  Couple all that with the sheer joy of watching a dad and his sons having so much fun on stage together and you’ve got an act that could be playing big festival stages in no time.

- Roots Music Canada (

Father-and-sons trio, The Janzen Boys, got their start busking as a rootsy, harmony-singing family playing in various places around Winnipeg, Manitoba. It wasn't long, however, before there was a demand for more. Things kicked off when they were chosen for a finalists showcase in the University of Winnipeg’s Uniter Fiver contest for emerging artists. Soon performances on Facebook and Youtube became a focus and at this point their videos have racked up over 50,000 views.

In the summer of 2015, the Boys wrote the story and music for a kids play that they performed in the Winnipeg Fringe Festival. This resulted in multiple sellouts, a 4-star review from the CBC, and a positive mention in The Winnipeg Free Press in an article entitled "Has the Fringe been Politically Neutered?"

Also in 2015 they sat down with local producer JP Laurendeau to create a 4 song EP called Roads. The EP features The Janzen Boys’ family harmonies along with the musical talents of Ariel Posen and Ryan Voth of The Bros. Landreth.

The band took their Blink's Garden play on the road in 2016 and 2017 to the Edmonton, Toronto, and Winnipeg Fringe Festivals, where they performed to more sellout audiences. In addition to the Fringe Festivals the band has kept busy on the festival circuit, performing at Festival du Voyageur, Dauphin CountryFest, The Fire and Water Festival in Lac du Bonnet, and The Trout Forest Music Festival.

After a successful showcase for the Manitoba Arts Network in Russell MB, the Boys booked a series of shows all over the province during the fall and winter of 2018/2019. They will head back into the studio in September 2019 to begin recording of a Janzen Boys full-length recording.

We are thrilled to announce the return of Pineridge Hollow's Fall Fair - Friday, September 20th to Sunday, September 22nd!

The Fall Fair is a beloved memory from our earlier years and we are so excited to be bringing it back. This family-friendly weekend is our take on an autumn festival and will include all of the fair favourites: a large kids activity area, petting zoo and carnival rides, as well as live music concerts & entertainment, beer gardens (featuring local Manitoba breweries and delicious Pineridge Hollow food), and of course, our biggest ever fall farmers’ market including food trucks!

In support of NorWest Community Food Centre, $2 of every ticket sold will be donated to help them increase access to healthy food in the community. Find out more about their mission here. We will continue to raise funds for NorWest over the weekend through silent auction raffle where you have the chance to win prizes from our beer gardens vendors and many other local companies!

Steve Bell featuring The Janzen Boys in support of Kyle Mason for Winnipeg North

From Steve's website:

Looking for a summer concert? Next Thursday, in Winnipeg, I'm performing my only concert of the summer in support of my buddy Kyle Mason who is running for federal office in the coming election (hoping to represent Winnipeg North.) He's from the neighbourhood, has a long history of service and I think he'll do a great job.

The concert will not be a political rally, but Kyle will take a moment to introduce himself in hopes of winning some financial and voter support.

I'm looking forward to finally getting a chance to hear The Janzen Boys who will also be performing. It'll be a casual and fun night. Hope to see you out!
