Book a House Concert with The Janzen Boys!
Hey y'all! We've got a show in Calgary on November 15th at the Calgary Folk Club and we're working on building a short tour around it! Let us know if you're interested in hosting a house concert by filling out the form below and we'll send you an email to see if we can work something out!
Here are the dates we're thinking for each area, but some dates might be flexible so let us know what works best for you!
You might be wondering…
A house concert is usually a concert in a house, sometimes a backyard, maybe a barn... where you gather your community of people (you can also open it up to the public… your call), we sing songs and tell bad dad jokes for 60 - 90 minutes, then people might hang out for a while and eventually leave. Some people provide drinks and food but that’s your call too! We’ve done quite a few house concerts over the years, from birthday parties and Christmas celebrations to gatherings where the main focus is simply enjoying live music.
What is a house concert?
Out of all the concerts we’ve played, house concerts tended to be some of our favourites! We often find that we can connect with the crowd way better because people really listen to the stories and lyrics in a house concert setting. They also seem to be a hit within our audience for the same reason — the lack of a big fancy stage and elaborate lighting breaks down that fourth wall (and I swear our jokes get better at house concerts too).
Why a house concert?
The fee for a house concert is on a sliding scale, and we like to think we’re pretty flexible depending on the location, the size of your space, and your budget. As a host, you can choose to cover the concert fee in full, or we can collaborate on selling tickets through a ticket link that we provide.
How much does it cost?
That totally depends on what you’re looking for and your space. We can decide how many tickets we want to sell, or in the case of a guarantee we can figure out what works best! We’ve played for 15 people at a house concert and we’ve played for 80!
How many guests do I have to bring?
For the majority of house concerts that we’ve put on we’ve played fully acoustic, and if your space accommodates for that, that is much preferred. However, we do bring along a small sound system that we can hook up if you’ve got a bigger space or if we’re playing outdoors.
